Bucs Sports Wrap: Bowlers Light ‘Em Up at Niagara Falls; Basketball, Indoor Track and Wrestling Action

The championship of the Festival of Lights Bowling Tournament in Niagara Falls has been a desire and goal for the Oswego High School Buccaneers. On Monday, the Bucs competed in the annual holiday event and came away with the championship. Oswego captured the boys’ team title with 6,317 for six games, but had to rally to win.

‘Snow Ball’ to feature Port City Roller Derby juniors Jan. 11

Port City Roller Derby's junior skaters return to action with an intraleague bout titled "Snow Ball" Jan. 11, in the Oswego YMCA Armory. A portion of proceeds will support the Children's Museum of Oswego. For more information, visit www.portcityrollerderby.orgPort City Roller Derby’s junior league will get 2014 rolling with their “Snow Ball” bout on Jan. 11, in the Oswego YMCA Armory. For the bout featuring two teams of PCRD junior skaters, ages 10 to 17, doors will open at 5 p.m. with action beginning at 6 p.m. in the armory, corner of West First and Utica streets in Oswego. It is the second event of their first full competitive season, a prelude to a Feb. 8 home bout vs. a juniors team from Buffalo’s Queen City league.

A Hat Trick of Victories For Buc Girls’ Varsity Hockey Team

The Oswego girls’ varsity hockey team went on a three-day odyssey through the Adirondacks last weekend, playing Saranac Lake, Lake Placid and Beekmantown in three consecutive days. The Lady Bucs were victorious in all three contests, raising their overall record to 4-2-1 going into Thursday’s home game against league rival Ithaca.
