Oz Roller Derby (OzRD) will bring back fast-moving, co-ed renegade roller derby to Oswego this Saturday, December 7th, at the Oswego YMCA Armory. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first jam whistle blows at 6 p.m. Renegade roller derby is similar to, yet very different from, most popular versions of roller derby played in upstate New York.

Kayla Distin a Human Biology from Fulton, was a member of the 2013 SUNY Oneonta women’s soccer team. The team finished 13-5-3 overall and won the SUNYAC title and qualified for the NCAA tournament.

The Oswego State women’s basketball team dropped its first game of the 2013-14 campaign with a 79-53 loss at the hands of host University of Rochester on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Lakers are now 3-1 on the year.

Dave Gruel announced this week the official formation of his own Novelis Supermodified team for the 2014 season at Oswego Speedway. The brand new team effort will campaign a new generation Hawk Performance Chassis, which is currently on order, along with a fresh Enders Racing Engines power plant for the entire 2014 Novelis Supermodified season at the ‘Steel Palace.’

The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team lost an early lead to fall 2-1 at Hamilton College on Tuesday evening. Oswego’s loss snapped a four-game winning streak and a five-game span without a loss. With the defeat, the Lakers fall to 6-2-1 on the season.

Members of the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Varsity Football Team ended their season on a high note, with a special surprise honor for their coach, Mike Libertone.

Oswego State men’s basketball team’s Kyle Covley has been named the SUNYAC Player of the Week for the week ending November 24, 2013. Covley helped the Lakers to a perfect 3-0 record on the week with wins over Ithaca College, St. Lawrence University and Hartwick College.

Randy Ritskes announced last week that he has finalized plans to drive the Locke Crane Services No. 37 Novelis Supermodified at Oswego Speedway full-time in 2014. Ritskes, a winner of nine Supermodified main events at Oswego Speedway, most recently piloted the Daratt Racing No. 88 to two consecutive top five finishes in championship points in 2011 and 2012.

Oswego Kartway recently announced its 2014 regular season schedule with a total of 17 events set from April through August continuing on Friday nights behind Oswego Speedway.
