The Oswego State men’s basketball team improved to 7-1 heading into the New Year with an easy 79-49 victory over Cazenovia College on Friday night in Max Ziel Gymnasium. The Lakers opened the game on a 17-1 run over the first 4:31 and never looked back.
The Oswego State women’s basketball team used a strong first half to cruise to a 91-43 non-conference victory over Cazenovia College. With the win, the Lakers move past the .500 mark with a 4-3 record on the season.
Oswego Speedway officially announced its 2014, 15-race weekend schedule featuring the Novelis Supermodified and Pathfinder Bank SBS ‘Road to the Championship’ on Friday. The Speedway’s 64th season of racing will once again kick start with ‘Opening Week,’ featuring two separate opening weekends on May 3 and May 10.

The 1988-89 Pulaski Varsity Boys’ Basketball Team was honored at a ceremony on December 6. The team from the 1988-89 season finished with an overall record of 22-3, and captured the only sectional basketball championship in school history.
OHS sports are in full swing for the winter season with the hockey, bowling, swimming and basketball teams all in action. The boys’ hockey team went on the road Tuesday night to Pulaski to face off against Ontario Bay in a league contest. Oswego skated out to a 3-0 first period lead en route to a 5-0 victory.
The State University of New York Athletic Conference has honored Matt Zawadzki and Shawn Hulshof of the men’s ice hockey team with weekly awards. Zawadzki was named the conference’s Goalie of the Week while Hulshof earned Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 8, 2013.
The jayvee girls’ basketball team captured a tournament title at Waterloo this past weekend while the boys’ varsity hockey team qualified for the title game at Baldwinsville and the girls’ varsity basketball team split in tourney action.
More than 150 kart racers converged on the New York State Fairgrounds on Saturday to compete in the annual NYS Indoor Karting Championships, and once again Oswego Kartway was well represented in the nationally known contest.
