The State University of New York Athletic Conference has released its 2013 Field Hockey All-Conference Teams, which include two members of the Oswego State squad. Seniors Ashley Collins and Ashley Fiorille both earned the honor with Collins named to the First Team and Fiorille placed on the Second Team.
Team Tapout announced Wednesday the addition of a third Hedger Fabrication Chassis to its stable in 2014 with former Mr. Pathfinder Bank SBS champion Barry Kingsley at the controls.
Sophomore Bailey Waterbury and junior Georgia Traynor each earned First Team honors, transfer junior Tia Segretto was placed on Second Team while senior Nikki Liadka and junior Bri Dolan nabbed Third Team accolades. The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (2-1-1) tied SUNY Potsdam in an overtime ECAC west battle Sunday, 1-1. The Lakers shot three times in the first three minutes of the game before Bridget Hamlin scored the first goal of the game at 3:06. Chelsea Hunt assisted Hamlin with the goal.
Strong Racing announced on Friday a partnership with Graham Racing to field a brand new Xtreme Chassis Supermodified full-time at Oswego Speedway in 2014 with New Jersey open-wheel ace Joey Payne as the driver.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, losing in an ECAC West contest to SUNY Potsdam 3-2. Oswego outshot Potsdam 43-16 in the game
The nationally-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team used a three-goal second period to gain control of the contest and defeat Cortland 4-1 in a SUNYAC matchup on Saturday night. With the victory, the No. 8/12 Lakers move to 2-1 in both overall and conference standings.
With the record setting 2013 season at Oswego Kartway now in the rear view mirror, attention turns to the annual championship awards banquet to be held on November 16 at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego. The banquet, set to begin at 6 p.m., will once again honor the season long track champions in all 11 Kartway divisions as well as the semi-pro division champions as a part of the inaugural Fall Frenzy series.
