The Oswego High School golf team won two more matches this week, running their record to 7-5 on the season. With five matches left in 2013 (four of them home), the Bucs appear to be in great form heading into sectional play in two weeks.
The boys varsity volleyball team remained unbeaten while the tennis team continued to improve and the jayvee teams for Oswego were in action. The Oswego varsity boys volleyball team remained unbeaten with a three-game sweep of Syracuse on Wednesday night at Powers Gymnasium.
A group of children and their parents participated in a fishing class conducted by local author Spider Rybaak at Wellesley Island State Park on September 15. The class, held at the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center’s dock, was the fifth this year. Everyone caught several fish, mostly yellow perch and round gobies.
The Oswego state Mens ACHA D1 hockey team held tryouts last week for the 2013-14 team and a record 68 players tried out for 29 roster spots. With so many talented players trying out, the coaching staff had a hard time narrowing the team down to just 29.
With the inaugural RJ Kart Sales Fall Frenzy 150 ready to take the green Friday at Oswego Kartway, state champions Lance Yeager and Ryan Swartz have now declared their intentions to compete for the winner’s share of over $2,000 in prize money at the Bullring.
With just 17 days remaining until one of the most exciting racing events anywhere in the Northeast, the Fulton Speedway staff is in high gear preparing for the 28th Annual Sunoco Fulton Ethanol Plant Outlaw 200 Weekend presented by SUNY Canton on October 4-5.
The most unique event in Oswego Kartway’s history will take place this Friday with the running of the RJ Kart Sales Fall Frenzy 150. A total of 150-laps of feature action will take place between the evening’s two highlighted divisions, Stock Heavy Flathead and Clone Heavy.
The Oswego High School varsity football team nearly came home with a road win on Friday night while the golf team continued to do well on the links with two wins. Meanwhile, the boys jayvee soccer team remained unbeaten.
