Houghton (2-2) built a two-goal lead in the first ten minutes, and never looked back as the Highlanders defeated the Oswego State field hockey team (1-4), 4-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Oswego State men’s soccer team (1-5) fought back from an early deficit, but came up short in a 2-1 loss at RIT on Saturday.
The Oswego State volleyball team (5-6) duplicated Friday’s results by posting a 3-0 win (25-18, 25-20, 25-23) over Alfred before falling to host New Paltz, 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-22) at the New Paltz Invitational on Saturday.
Alyssa Hare (Sr., Middleport, N.Y.) and Michelle Ruskey (Sr., Deerfield, N.Y.) took charge on the field, as each contributed two goals to help the Oswego State field hockey team (1-3, 1-0 SUNYAC) win its home opener 4-0 on Friday against Morrisville (1-4, 0-1).
The Oswego State volleyball team (4-5) split matches on the first day of the New Paltz Invitational by sweeping Old Westbury, 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 26-24), before losing to Mount St. Mary, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-23) on Friday.
Four Laker golfers tallied rounds below 80 to help the Oswego State men’s golf team finish nine strokes ahead of Elmira with a score of 310 to win the seven-team 2012 Keuka Fall Invitational at the Lakeshore Country Club on Thursday.
Nikki Liadka (Jr., Liverpool, N.Y.) had a seven-point night after scoring three unassisted goals and adding an assist to lead the Oswego State women’s soccer team (3-2-0) to a 4-1 win over D’Youville (3-1-0).
Sophomore Haley Miller (Springwater, N.Y.) won her sixth singles match in decisive fashion, but the Oswego State women’s tennis team (0-3) was edged out by Cortland (1-2), 8-1, at the Romney Tennis Courts on Thursday.
