Laker Men’s Golf Team Places Fourth
In its final meet before competing in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championships, the Oswego State men’s golf team placed fourth out of 12 teams at the Elmira Fall Invitational with a team score of 340 on Tuesday.

Brewerton and Fulton speedways’ regular Mike Mahaney took the $12,000 win Sunday at the 112-lap season finale at the Fonda Speedway. With his victory Mahaney secures the final qualifying spot for this weekend’s 27th Annual Sunoco Fulton Ethanol Facility Outlaw 200 presented by SUNY Canton.
The Oswego State volleyball team (7-8, 1-2 SUNYAC) swept Brockport, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-13), in its final game of SUNYAC Pool Play to give the Lakers their first league win since 2008. Earlier in the day, Oswego State was swept by Buffalo State, 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-12).
The Laker women posted 77 points, while the men’s squad tallied 116 points. The RIT women and the Brockport men took home the team titles.
The Oswego State women’s tennis team (1-6) posted its first victory of the season by defeating Alfred (4-5), 5-4, on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers held a 2-1 lead to start singles competition and held off the Saxons with wins at the No. 1, 4, and 5 slots.
Brian Tosti (Sr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) earned wins at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles to account for two points for the Oswego State men’s tennis team (1-2), but it was not enough as Alfred (1-1) a 7-2 win over the Lakers on Saturday.
Lisa O’Callaghan (Fr., New Hyde Park, N.Y.) gave the Oswego State field hockey team (1-6, 1-2 SUNYAC) a one-goal lead in the first half, but Oneonta (6-2, 3-0 SUNYAC) responded by scoring six unanswered goals for a 6-1 win on Saturday.
Mateo Cordini scored his fourth goal of the season two minutes into the second overtime period to give New Paltz (4-3-1, 1-1-0 SUNYAC) a 1-0 victory over the Oswego State men’s soccer team (1-7-0, 0-2-0 SUNYAC) Saturday afternoon.
For the second straight day, the Oswego State women’s soccer team (3-4-0, 0-2-0 SUNYAC) lost a tight 1-0 game. This time, it was New Paltz (7-2-0, 1-1-0 SUNYAC) doing the damage when Samantha Abravanel scored in the 79th minute.
The Oswego State volleyball team (6-7, 0-1 SUNYAC) opened conference pool play on Friday with a straight-set loss to Fredonia by the scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-8.
