The Oswego State women’s soccer team closed out its 2009 campaign with a 4-0 loss at Oneonta on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons received goals from four different players as they clinched either the top or second seed with a 7-2-0 league record and an overall record of 11-3-3. The Lakers finished the season with a mark of 7-9-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the SUNY Athletic Conference.

The line of Justin Fox (Jr., Whitby, Ont.), Chris Laganiere (Jr., Owego, N.Y.), and Eric Selleck (So., Spencerville, Ont.) had a big night for the Lakers as it combined to score 10 points on four goals and six assists. Oswego State opens the season at 1-0-0, while the Soaring Eagles went to 0-1-0.

Fulton Wins Playoff Game Against Carthage

Fulton used the running power of tailback Don Watson to rush past Carthage in the opening round of the Section III football playoffs, 34-15.

Watson scored on fourth quarter runs of 9 and 21 yards to put the game away.

Friday, the Oswego Buccaneers played host to the Cortland Purple Tigers, and earned a hard fought 26-6 victory. Damian Williams and the Oswego running game proved to be the difference as the field was pelted by rain and wind throughout. Williams totaled 223 yards and racked up two touchdowns asÃ‚Â OswegoÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s only attempted passes came on two-point conversion attempts.
