180 Students Present Research and Creative Projects

ONEONTA, NY – Nearly 200 SUNY Oneonta students presented original research and creative projects at the college’s 2016 Student Research and Creative Activity Day on April 20.

Created to recognize and promote undergraduate scholarship and creative activity, Student Research & Creative Activity Day has become the premier on-campus event for scholarly student exhibition.

A total of 180 students, supported by 66 faculty sponsors, participated in this year’s event, which featured presentations on a wide variety of topics across academic disciplines.

The following area students were among the presenters:

Kaylie Allen, a senior from Oswego, NY; Allen worked with Tracy Allen of the Geography and Environmental Sustainability Department on a project titled “SUNY Oneonta Implements Sustainability Initiatives Campus Wide: Guide and Map.”

Kayla Francisco, a junior from Central Square, NY; Francisco worked with April Harper of the History Department on a project titled “Mental Health in the Middle Ages.”

A liberal arts institution with a strong focus on undergraduate research and service learning, SUNY Oneonta consistently gains recognition for delivering excellence and value. The college has been named to Kiplinger’s list of “100 Best Values in Public Colleges” for 10 years running and sits at No. 9 on the 2016 U.S. News and World Report list of the best public institutions in the region. SUNY Oneonta enrolls 6,000 students in its 70 undergraduate majors and 14 graduate programs.
