AmeriCorps Members Hold Bingo Games At Michaud

FULTON, NY – Residents at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton enjoyed a night of bingo and visitors on August 3.

Oswego AmeriCorps members Vanessa Langdon and Emma Belcher helped coordinate the event as their community involvement project.

And along with volunteers, they assisted residents as they played.

Members of the Cool Book Society, headed by Langdon, at the Fulton Public library also made cards to give to the residents.

“We had about 22 residents play bingo with us. We also had six volunteers,” Belcher  said. “We did not get any donations, but the prizes and playing boards were provided by the activity director at Michaud, Debbie Hursh. The residents had a good time talking and playing with the volunteers.”

The Oswego AmeriCorps program focuses on services for children and families.

Members mentor youth, provide fitness and nutrition education activities and manage volunteers.

Members serve at schools, libraries, recreation programs and human service agencies throughout the county.

People can get an application at the Youth Bureau located at 70 Bunner St in Oswego.

Usually, AmeriCorps start looking for people in the spring to work for the summer.
