Fabulous Entertainment Planned For OCO Bowl-A-Fun

FULTON, NY – Get ready to party with Camillus Connection and Elvis on April 9, as Oswego County Opportunities celebrates its 50th birthday with a “Fifty & Fabulous” event as part of the annual Bow-A-Fun.

One of OCO’s most popular community events and fund raisers, this year’s Bowl-A-Fun brings a party atmosphere with plenty of fun.

The bowling tournament will provide keep competition among the agency’s major sponsors from noon to 2:30 p.m.

“Right afterwards we’ll get this party started with open bowling, prize drawings, raffles including 50/50, live entertainment, and of course refreshments and a great big cake,” said Diane Cooper-Currier, OCO’s executive director.

Local Elvis impersonator Tom Gilbo brings his rendition of all the greats by the King.

“You’ll swear that Elvis is in the building,” Cooper-Currier said.

Camillus Connection is a mix of family and friends all hailing from roots in the small town of Camillus.

Patty O’Connor, an OCO employee, and her sister, Joanne Balduzzi, have been playing guitar and singing since their high school days growing up on Tipp Hill.

Balduzzi and Mike Sims have spent years gigging around Syracuse with various bands and solo.

As a guitar teacher, Sims’ students have gone on to win a number of Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYS).

Cindy Gokey is a master in Music from SUNY Fredonia with a range of skills, both as a musician and photographer.

Their repertoire ranges from the ’50s through originals written in the past year.

“We’re pleased to have such amazing talent with ties to the OCO family,” Cooper-Currier said. “We’re going to celebrate five decades of community service: from OCO’s humble beginnings in the mid-1960s to its role as a leading provider of human services today, and cast a vision for the things to come.”

OCO holds this fundraiser every spring to help support its programs and services.

“This year’s focus is on thanking the community, and especially those businesses and individuals who have supported OCO and its mission through the years,” Cooper-Currier said. “Our success in fighting poverty comes through working together to make a difference and change lives for the better.”
