HANNIBAL – Fifteen new educators embarked on their teaching careers with the Hannibal Central School District this school year.
The teachers received a warm welcome from district officials and colleagues during recent orientation sessions held at Dennis M. Kenney Middle School.
In a session conducted by Dee Froio, director of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Programs, the new teachers focused on setting goals and exploring ways to achieve those benchmarks.
“I want you to write on this index card what kind of teacher you want to be,” Froio said as she emphasized the importance of building human connections and serving as a role model to students. “I’m going to collect these cards today, and at some point during the school year, I will give them back to you so you can see how well you’re doing in becoming that great teacher you described on the card.”
In addition to hands-on activities, group discussions and team-building exercises, the group also toured the schools and met with members of the Hannibal Faculty Association.
The newcomers will serve the district in a range of academic areas and are excited about the opportunity to be part of the Hannibal school community.
