Palmer was born in Oswego County and has worked and lived all over New York State.

Her passion for news was sparked about 15 years ago when she joined a broadcast journalism class in high school.

As part of that class, she reported on school news for a local radio station.

Palmer attended college at SUNY Oswego, splitting her time between WTOP and the Theatre Department.

Palmer was hired by WSYR Newschannel 9 in Syracuse following an internship there, working in the investigative unit, producing and writing stories for about a year.

From there, Palmer got her first reporting job in Watertown and was later promoted to evening anchor.

Palmer joined YNN when it launched in 2003 and continues to serve as an anchor five days a week.

Palmer can be seen regularly across the state from Albany to Syracuse, Utica, Watertown, Binghamton, Elmira and of course, Oswego.

“Connections” is designed to bring women of all ages and backgrounds together to explore their place and power within their professions.

The theme for this year’s event is “Vision, Change and Growth” and will feature several dynamic speakers, networking opportunities, a dessert reception and a “Women’s Marketplace” where vendors promoting products and services for women will be showcased.

Susan Bertrand of Maureen’s Hope Foundation will be the keynote speaker.

Other speakers include Kimberly Steele of The Steele Law Firm, Pamela Moss of Power of My Vision, and Mandee Widrick of ChargedUp Media.

Major sponsors confirmed to date for “Connections” include SUNY Oswego, Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training, Alliance Bank, and Mitchell’s Speedway Press.
