COLORING THE NEIGHBORHOOD – The Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning held an award ceremony for winners of the 2025 Fair Housing Coloring Contest. Pictured from left with the winners of the 4- to 7-year-old group are Oswego County Fair Housing Officer and Director of Community Development, Tourism and Planning Tim Stahl; Oswego County Legislator Charles Burger, District 17; honorees Olivia Clark, Sophia DeSantis, Kenley Leonard and Luna Nolan; Oswego County Legislator Mary Ellen Chesbro, District 10, chairwoman of the county Legislature’s Economic Development and Planning Committee; and Oswego Housing Development Council Executive Director Marion Naramore.

Thanks to the generosity of local sponsors, coloring contest winners each got to select an item from a variety of prizes. Prize options included a cosmic bowling prize pack from Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego, a family four-pack to the Children’s Museum of Oswego, family fun packs from Splash Indoor Water Park in Oswego, and Visa gift cards from Fulton Savings Bank and the Oswego County Federal Credit Union.

This year’s contest coloring book page was placed in local weekly newspapers for two weeks. All entries were displayed at the Oswego County Fair and on the first floor of the Oswego County Legislative Office Building, where staff and visitors voted to select the winners.

The annual contest helps Oswego County mark the Fair Housing Act of 1968, enacted by President Lyndon B. Johnson. In the years since, the Oswego County Legislature has passed two local laws in support of equal housing opportunities for all county residents.

The body also appointed Oswego County Director of Community Development, Tourism and Planning Tim Stahl as the Oswego County Fair Housing Officer and proclaimed April as Fair Housing Month to promote, support and enforce equal housing opportunities for all county residents.
