A retirement dinner was held and very well attended by fellow firefighters and retirees in Nelson’s honor.
Fire Chief Jeff McCrobie complimented Ron by saying, “I was fortunate enough to serve as Ronnie’s shift captain for six years and know first-hand of his love, dedication, and professionalism for his career. Firefighter Nelson has always been one of our finest providers, who excelled not only in emergency medical services but in all aspects of firefighting. I feel privileged to have worked alongside of him and he should serve as a role model and example for all firefighters. I sincerely wish Ron a happy, safe, and healthy retirement, and want to thank his wife, Barb, and son, Steven, for lending him to us for the last 20 years.”
Firefighter Nelson plans to spend time with his family as well as continuing his passion for exercise and physical conditioning including running and bike riding.
