People in Central New York will have an opportunity to learn about New York’s female leaders through a moving “Women of Distinction” display, featured at local libraries.
The New York State Senate’s Women of Distinction program honors women, both past and present, who have made a difference.
Senator Patty Ritchie kicked off the tour Thursday with an event at the Fulton Public Library, which is hosting the exhibit through July 10.
“When you look back through history, it’s astounding to see the number of women who have made such a significant impact on our state and our country,” said Senator Ritchie. “This display will enable people to learn about those women, as well as current ‘Women of Distinction’ who are making a difference in their communities today.”
The moving display will feature this year’s Woman of Distinction, Jan Rebeor of Oswego County, as well as other famous New York women such as Rhoda Fox Graves, Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Lucille Ball and more.
The display will be featured at the following libraries:
Fulton Library, now to July 10
Hannibal Library, July 11 to 19
Williamstown Library, July 20 to 30
Mexico Library, August 9 to 17
Sandy Creek Library, August 20 to 28
Central Square Library, August 29 to September 6
Phoenix Library, September 19 to 27
Oswego City Library, September 28 to October 8
Pulaski Library, September 10 to 18
