First Committee Meeting Of 2025 Sees Approval Of New Musuem and DayCare

By Jose Hernandez

OSWEGO – The first Committee meeting in Oswego of 2025 approved of a new museum and daycare to be built in Oswego. Mayor Robert Corradino, City Attorney Caraccioli, and Fire Chief Kevin Conzone all spoke in support of passing resolutions.

City Attorney Kevin Caraccioli requested authorization for the mayor to enter into a lease agreement with Safe Haven Museum and Education Center for use of the former Fort Ontario Emergency Shelter Administration building to house a museum. This is an extension of the existing lease agreement with Safe Haven in Oswego, says Caraccioli. The council approved the lease agreement. Safe Haven has a long-standing lease in Oswego.

Mayor Robert Corradino presented Ellen Clark’s request to do the Hearts on the Bridge project. Clark has been donating hearts for the last seven years, and the council approved her to do it again in 2025. The Department of Public Works puts up the hearts.

Fire Chief Paul Conzone requested authorization to receive a donation of $200 from Harbor Freight Tools. The donation would be for firefighting equipment. Conzone thanked Harbor Freight for the donation, and the council approved the donation.

Caraccioli also requested authorization for the mayor to enter a lease agreement with Oswego County Opportunities INC for the use of building number 31 for the use of a Head Start Daycare center. HeadStart has also had a long-standing lease in Oswego, and the city plans to clean up and fix the inside of building number 31 for use, like the emergency shelter.
