Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and members of the Fulton Common Council present Board of Education President David Cordone, Vice President Dan Pawlewicz, member Paula Hayden, and Superintendent Brian Pulvino with a Mayoral Proclamation declaring October 23-27 as School Board Recognition Week.

Board members entered the meeting to a cookie tray as a “small token of appreciation” courtesy of Terry Warwick, Director of Food Services.

The men and women serving as members of school boards are dedicated to children, learning and community, and devote many hours of service to elementary and secondary public education as they continually strive for improvement, excellence and progress in education, recognizing that all children can be successful learners, especially when education is tailored to the individual needs of the child,” the proclamation read.

Specifically, it honored Board President David Cordone, Vice President Dan Pawlewicz, Clerk Timothy Crandell and members Paula Hayden, Lynn Lyons, Brenda Abelgore, and Robbin Griffin for freely dedicating their time to advocate for the students of the Fulton City School District.

In closing, the proclamation cited a quote from DeAnn Hollis: “The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.”

“I can’t express enough my appreciation and the appreciation of the district for all the work you do. Thank you too all the board members and thank you for allowing me to serve as your superintendent, I look forward to much success,” Superintendent Pulvino said to the board members.

Similarly, the city of Fulton recognized all school building principals throughout the district as a part of Principal Recognition Month.

The aforementioned principal’s were honored for setting the academic tone of their schools, working collaboratively, and being school leaders ensuring that every child has access to a high quality education.

“Our principals are our leaders in the buildings,” Pulvino said. “They are strong leaders of schools, strong leaders in the classroom, and they make a difference for every one of our kids.”

Each proclamation ended with Mayor Woodward encouraging community residents to use this time as an opportunity to thank a school board member and a principal throughout the district for their selfless dedication to the students of Fulton.
