Officers collected evidence from the scene which was sent to the lab. Results of the laboratory analysis resulted in the identification of a suspect, who was arrested by Fulton Police yesterday, in the 250 block of W. Fourth St. S.

The following suspect was arrested: Robert L. Bort, 29 years old, of Fulton

Charges:

  • Burglary 2nd – Class C Felony
  • Petit Larceny – Class A Misdemeanor
  • Resisting Arrest – Class A Misdemeanor

Bort was arraigned remotely in the Centralized Arraignment Part of County Court, and released. This is Bort’s second arrest for burglarizing occupied dwellings in the last month.

  1. Why would any judge release someone like this individual who was found in a living room of someone’s home . Would Hawthorne release that person if it happened in his home?????????.

  2. Because under the new Bail Reform Law passed last year, he has to release the Defendant ROR if the charge is not a designated Felony which requires the imposition of bail.

  3. We need to bring respect back!!! They should make a building in Fulton and put these disrespectful in them and hire someone from the military show them what respect is. If they don’t get through it put them back again. C’mon people! It would create jobs, some would even volunteer for this. They need to be off the streets. Show them movies what prison is like. Lucky the kid in the house didn’t get hurt. They get out do it again, sooner or later it can get really bad. So much for Bail Reform Govenor Cumo. People have gotton out and murdered people. Please bring respect and God back!! What is this world coming to? I’m sure other countries laugh at us for our laws! I’ve seen it! How would Mr. Cumo like it if someone broke in his house and harmed his daughter’s bad? It takes nothing to change the laws! If the prison’s are full, find some old buildings and fix them up a bit, a little paint goes along way! And the drugs in this city what a joke!!! In todays world it’s like the saying from Burger King have it your way! Very sad, sad, sad!!! People are too busy on their phones or playing games on their phones! I know it starts with the parents, but some of the parents are worse than the kids. If you have a job and make a big mistake you are fired. Make these kids and people understand that. Not just get a slap on the hand. Make them go out and work a real crappy job, maybe they would take responsibility. If they decline give them something worse! We did all kinds of odd jobs when we were kids and didn’t have the bull —- you have today. Make people accountable for their actions!!!! Crime would come down big time.

  4. The average person is law abiding and have no rights in todays world. Very sad!!!

  5. It’s the parent’s fault, and if it’s not their fault, it’s the grandparent’s fault. And if it’s a broken family, then it’s the church’s fault. And if it’s not the church’s fault, it’s the school’s fault. It takes a village to raise a criminal, after all…….

  6. Maybe the day will come when this pos breaks into the wrong guy’s home.
