Tanner Sentencing Delayed

FULTON, NY – Sentencing in the case against the former Fulton library director was postponed Wednesday after a brief court appearance.

Rebekah Tanner, 50, was arrested April 30, 2007 and charged with three counts of grand larceny for reportedly using a library credit card to charge thousands of dollars in personal expenses. She pleaded guilty to petit larceny, a misdemeanor, earlier this year.

Though she was scheduled to appear in Fulton City Court for sentencing Wednesday, City Court Judge Spencer Ludington postponed the case because the pre-sentencing report ordered in the case was not complete.

Tanner appeared with her attorney, Anthony DiMartino, who explained that the delay in the report process was not the fault of his client.

“I didn’t suspect she’s been a problem,” Ludington said. “She’s been cooperative in the process.”

Ludington scheduled Tanner to return for sentencing July 16. He also asked Chief Court Clerk Maureen Ball to contact the probation office in Onondaga County to try to confirm that date.

“We will call the probation office in Onondaga County and make sure that’s a date that we can get this done,” Ludington said.

Ludington said the date may change depending on that answer.

“Please continue to work on restitution,” he told Tanner before she left court. missing or outdated ad config
