City To Hold Bus Tour Of Route 104

OSWEGO – The city of Oswego Department of Planning and Zoning will host an experiential bus tour of the city’s Route 104 corridor as a part of the community engagement efforts associated with the “Connect Oswego” project.

During the tour, participants will have the opportunity to experience the corridor from a unique perspective and gain a better understanding of existing challenges and future opportunities.

The bus tour is scheduled for May 11 from 2:30 – 4 p.m.

The tour will leave from the Lowe’s parking lot located at 445 NY-104.

Participants are encouraged to arrive by 2:20 p.m.

Reservations are not required to participate in the tour but seats will be limited to the number of available places on the bus.

Over the course of the tour, the bus will make numerous stops along  the corridor for participants to get out and “experience” a new situation as a pedestrian, mobility  impacted user, etc.

Feedback and dialogue during the bus tour will help to inform the planning and design process.

The city of Oswego kicked off the planning process in March.

Over the course of the planning  process, a series of public meetings and workshops will be held to share progress and solicit feedback and input on the future of the corridor.

The Route 104 Streetscape Revitalization project — “Connect Oswego” – is an exciting planning and design process that will result in recommendations  for modifications to improve safety, address traffic concerns and enhance the character of the corridor for a diversity of users.

The city received funding to complete the project from the New York State Energy Research and  Development Authority (NYSERDA).

In the fall of 2015 the city retained the services of Bergmann  Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in transportation and land use planning, roadway planning and design, landscape architecture and traffic, to oversee and facilitate the planning and design process.

A special thanks to Centro for use of its bus and the time of a licensed driver.
