Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle, In Serious Condition

UPDATE: The street reopened shortly before midnight

OSWEGO – At about 6:17 p.m. today (Sept. 14), the Oswego City Police Department was dispatched to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of East Bridge and Sixth streets.

A 32-year-old woman was struck by a small SUV, police report.

The pedestrian, whose name can not be released pending notification, was unconscious.

She was transported by Mentor Ambulance to Fulton where she was then transported to Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, by Mercy Flight with serious injuries.

The driver and occupants of the vehicle didn’t suffer any injury, according to police.

The Oswego Police Department, Oswego Fire Department, Mentor Ambulance, Mercy Flight and the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department all assisted with the incident.

Also be advised State Route 104 will be closed between East Seventh and East Fifth streets until the scene is cleared.

The collision is still under investigation.

  1. So sorry for that poor woman. Like I’ve said many times we need more traffic control in this city. With a 10% raise maybe we can get more patrols during the day handing out speeding tickets on our streets. Just mentioned the other day (after that bad accident, no one got hurt)that if they don’t slow people down that someone is going to get hurt. Cars do 50 mph on bridge street all the time. 40-50 mph on west first street near the post office. Plus at night half the lights aren’t working that we pay $60,000 for. Need to get National Grid street lighting here in the city at night going around and fixing the lights before someone gets hurt. Get on the ball Mr mayor and get thing fixed before someone gets killed. Hope the person that got hit recovers fast.

  2. Yes Joe great, raise taxes 10%….How about people looking both ways before stepping out on to the road or better yet, walking a block to 5th and using the cross walk device? Nah, lets raise taxes and make the Mayor responsible.
