Scriba Residents Cited For Rescue Efforts

SCRIBA, NY – At a recent Scriba Town Board meeting, three Scriba residents were presented awards, the result of their quick response to an incident that occurred on Sandy Pond on August 5.

Reportedly, after a storm had passed through the area, Julia Lavery spotted two boats in the water, one overturned.

Julia notified her father, Michael, and sister, Michele, who immediately responded to the boats and returned the occupants safely to shore.

Returning to the water, they then towed both boats to shore.

Their quick actions prevented any injury, loss of life, or property.
