OSWEGO – The Oswego Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire just before midnight on May 9, 2026 at 30 First Avenue in the City of Oswego. Upon arrival, Oswego Firefighters encountered fire conditions outside the rear of the home and quickly deployed hoselines to knock down the flames while other members searched the home for any trapped occupants.
The fire was brought under control within approximately 10 minutes. The home sustained moderate fire, smoke, and water damage to the rear of the first floor and exterior. Three occupants are currently displaced from the home due to the damage. Mutual aid assistance was provided by the Fulton Fire Department and Novelis Fire Department. The Oswego Police Department, Oswego County Fire Coordinators Office, Menter Ambulance, and the Oswego County Sherrif’s Department also assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact the Oswego Police Department at (315) 342-8120.
Fire Chief Paul Conzone commended the efforts of responding personnel, stating “I am proud of the outstanding work performed by our Firefighters tonight. Their professionalism, teamwork, and quick actions helped bring this fire under control safely and prevented further damage to the home.”
The Oswego Fire Department reminds residents to ensure working smoke alarms are installed inside every bedroom, outside every sleeping area, and on every level of their home.
