Advances in how interactive whiteboard technology and multi-party video conferencing help corporate, healthcare and educational teams be more productive, is the focus of Presentation Concepts Corporation’s Oct. 22 (PCC) Technology Showcase Seminar, said Timothy J. Butz, PCC’s president.
The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Syracuse’s Clarion Hotel, 100 Farrell Rd. “Using this type of technology is transforming the way organizations work,†Butz said. “ Online collaboration in the business world enables organizations to create more engaging meeting spaces, increase productivity, and make information sharing simple and efficient.â€
“Interactive whiteboards are touch-sensitive displays that allow a user to use a finger or pen device to control computer applications, write notes, pull up charts and images, search the Internet, play videos, and save work, Butz explained. “We’ll be showcasing the latest models that utilize ‘Touch Recognition’ features, which allow users to switch modes automatically and allow them to write with a pen or erase with the palm of their hand.
“Multi-party video conferencing is changing the way people communicate and drives faster decisions while reducing travel costs and improving collaboration.

Butz emphasized that the areas of application are vast. Among these are corporations, architecture, engineering, manufacturing, construction, hospitality, education, legal, retail, local and state government, public safety and education.
One of the most rapidly growing applications of this technology is in telemedicine, also referred to as â€telehealth†or “e-health,†Butz said. “Effective diagnosis is the result of clinical quality information, images and data. Today’s high tech multi-party video technology integrates with high performance cameras, diagnostic scopes, and digital medical devices that allow shared diagnostic video, images, sounds, and data. Patients in remote locations are able to receive diagnosis and treatment with this telecommunications technology.
“This has tremendous, positive returns in rural health, school nurses’ offices, disaster relief, aboard ship or other transport, remote industrial sites, and in correctional facilities where inmate transport or physician entry may be hazardous. In fact, it’s already in use in many states and the US prison system.â€
Among the vendors represented at the Showcase Seminar will be Chief, Crestron, Draper, Extron, MediaVision, Mitsubishi, Polycom, Sanyo, SMART, and Soundtube. Seminars will include the American Institute of Architects (AIA) accreditation.
