FULTON, NY – Alfred D. “Fred” Bevacqua, 88, of Fulton, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to Constantino and Catherine Raneari Bevacqua and remained a life resident of Fulton.
Fred was a veteran of the Army serving during the Korean Conflict as a medic.
He owned and operated Mr. Mike’s Seafood in Fulton for more than 50 years.
Fred enjoyed going to the casino and bowling during his younger years.
He was the past president of the Fulton Kiwanis Club.
Fred was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Bevacqua, in 1993; two daughters, Cheryl Hanzlian and Christine Colucci; and siblings, Frank Bevacqua, Mary Place and Matt Bevacqua.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three sons, John Bevacqua of California, Dave (Kerri) Bevacqua of Georgia and Gary (Rebecca) Bevacqua of Fulton; two stepchildren, John (Kristina) O’Connor and Amy Fink; 11 grandchildren, Mariah, Danielle, Kristin, Kayla, Katie, Fred, Olivia, Nora, Rachel, Sean and Patrick; one sister, Tina Firenze; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, October 15, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Mount Adnah Cemetery, East Broadway, Fulton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, P.O. Box 102, Oswego, New York 13126-0102 in Fred’s memory.

I am SO very saddened by this news…..I have such fond memories of Fred beginning from my childhood….his serenading in the shop and his soft voice….his jokes and true sincerity….he was like family to everyone and I will surely miss him. Sending my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends and the whole community that will, no doubt, miss his presence. He will never be forgotten~

John, Dave, Gary, I always thought of your Dad as my adopted Dad. We used to joke about it. He was always so kind and helpful to me as was your mother. I just wish I could have relayed that to him again… My thoughts are with you all.

Fred was always such a kind, happy man…I couldn’t help but love him. Always a ray of sunshine came with him when he came into the bank! Rest in peace Fred….you certainly earned it .

Mr Mike , wow the memories. Walking from the high school for a fish sandwich and a soda.. we alway had to hurry but always made it back in time. He knew the kids where coming and was always ready for us. I seen him not to long ago might even been a year or so but it was like it was yesterday. Because we all thought he would be there for us everytime we went to his restaurant.He was my neighbor back in 1966. What a great man he will be missed by all. THE TEARS ARE REAL, FOR A MAN MY HUSBAND & I KNEW FOR OVEF 50 YEARS!
WHEN WE FIRST STARTED GOING TO THE ” STORE” AND FRED FOUND OUT MY NAME, EVERY TIME I WENT IN, HE WOULD SING A SONG ” ROSEANN OF SHARON CROSS”. AFTER A WHILE I ASKED HIM IF IT WAS A REAL SONG, OR DID HE MAKE IT UP?
HE SAID IT WAS AN OLD SONG?. PAT USED TO JUST LAUGH AT HIM.
HE WAS A FRIEND TO ALL. HE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE & A HUG. HE WORKED HARD & MADE IT LOOK EASY.. HE SUFFERED HEARTACHE BEYOND BELIEF.
THE LAST TIME I SAW HIM A FEW YRS AGO AT STRUPPLERS WE DISCUSSED HOW WE CAME TO KNOW EACH OTHER, I THOUGHT HIGH SCHOOL. HE SAID, STORE. THEN HE TOLD ME HOW OLD HE WAS. 8 YRS OLDER!!!!

Fred was a friend to many people and always one to make others happy. A tireless worker who raised an amazing family. We had many memorable times together.

There was only one Elvis and there was one Fred. Despite our age difference, Freddie was a great friend of mine. In my early teens he hired me to help him deliver fresh Italian bread around Fulton at 5 am. Remember he always said, ” New in the back and old in the front.” Later I was the french fry man at Mr. Mikes around the corner from my home. In high school I played some softball with him.When in college,everytime I brought some friends to Fulton we had to get fish from Freddie. He was one of the funniest and friendly persons that I have ever known. How about the super bakes at his clam site. To all his family,you are in my thoughts and prayers. To my friend, Freddie, rest in peace.

A great man, the little city of Fulton is going to miss this man. Smart, a GREAT cook, always had a smile for everyone. Sure hope someone keeps MR Mikes open. great food!! Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
My husband Dick and I met Fred and Patty in 1957. We had just moved to Fulton. My husband joined a bowling team at work and they played against a team Fred was on. We struck up a friendship that very night. As time went on Patty became my best friend until the day she died. Fred was a wonderful sweet husband to her and became a good friend to me–one that even though we may not see each other for months or years, our greetings were warm and like no time had passed. My sympathy and love to Marilyn, John, David and Gary.
A great man our family has known for about 50 years – “Uncle Fred” to my kids through the years. He will be so missed.
Fred will always be remembered as “one of the good guys”. Just an all around nice guy …truely a joy. We were all lucky to have known him. We are sorry for your loss, Marilyn. You and “Mr. Mike” were a great team.
I feel like I lost a part of me. We were pretty good friends as he was to everyone.

RIP “Mr. Mike” or Freddy! Fred was a great man and helped mold me into the man I am today. My first memories of walking to Mr Mike’s during our lunch hour at school, and eventually working at the Clam Shed through my college years.
Fred taught me a lot about life and I don’t think I would be the man I am today if not for some of the lessons he taught me as I worked. I always loved watching him work the bakes shaking everyone’s hands and putting a smile on everyone’s face. You were a great man, friend, husband, father and boss.
Aunt Merdie- I am so sorry for your loss! I was just thinking about you not too long ago as I drove through Topeka, KS. I will be sure and have my kids light a candle for Fred and I will fill them with some of the wonderful memories of him. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

What a special man who leaves a foot print in your heart. Many fond memories over the years of Fred.Everytime I saw him and no matter where he would light up and go out of his way to give me a big hug and a kiss.He always brightened your day just by being in it.. A hard worker and a friend to everyone.I used to joke with him all the time and say”here comes the mayor”.He knew everyone in our community and took time to acknowledge them.I for one feel lucky to have had Fred in my life.Some people don’t get that kind of a caring and special friendship in a lifetime and I am honored to have had Fred in mine.
