OSWEGO, NY – Alfred F. Enwright, 88, passed into the next world peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday June 16, 2012, at St Luke’s Residential Health Care Facility in Oswego following a long illness.
Born to Peter and Irene Enwright on December 18, 1923, he was a lifelong resident of Oswego.
Following graduation from Oswego High School, he enlisted in the US Army and served in Central Europe and the Rhineland during World War II.
Following his honorable discharge, he attended Clarkson College.
He was an agency manager with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1985.
He celebrated his Irish heritage and loved a good party.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially members of the “Over the Hill Gang.”
He liked to hunt, fish, golf, dance and sing.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Tony Lombardo; his brother, Jim; as well as by his dear friends, Jim Schneider and Norrie Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years whom he considered his “angel,” Shirley (Danaher) Enwright; his daughters, Dr. Colleen (Dr Michael) O’Leary of Manlius NY, Cindy (Dan) Farrell of Port Jefferson, NY, and Jamie (Joe) Brancato of Oswego; grandchildren, Ryan Farrell, Nicholas and Kendra Brancato; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family is grateful to the staff on the third floor at St Luke’s for the exceptional care Al received as well as for the care and concern shown towards his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 103 W. Seventh St., Oswego, at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Friends are welcome to visit the family at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

we are so sorry for your loss. Al was such a great guy and you two were a great couple. We always enjoyed talking and laughing with you when we were out. You certainly have some wonderful memories to reflect on over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
