John F. Pomeroy, 75, of Hannibal passed away Friday at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Fulton, he was a long time resident of the Fulton – Oswego areas. He retired as a painter from Painter’s Local #38, District Council #4, Oswego and previously was an Iron Union worker. John was an Army veteran serving during Korea from 1951 to 1954. He was a member of Oswego V.F.W. Post 2320 and Lake City Lodge #127, F. & A.M., Oswego. He enjoyed races at the Fulton and Oswego Speedways and at one time was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.

John was predeceased by his wife, Nora J. Pomeroy, who died in 1995.

Surviving: two daughters, Missy (William ) LeVea and Cheryl Grimes; sister, Donna Molnar; step-mother, Hilda Pomeroy; step-daughters, Sally Maxfield, Dawn Gibbs and Starr Chetney; step-sons, Charles DiBartolo, Curtis Himes, Gary Himes, Randy Woods and Sam Chetney; four grandchildren, John C.L. LeVea, Madison LeVea, Stephanie Morrison and Holly Manwaring; several step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a niece, Kimberly (Dan) Dubovik; several cousins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

  1. A wave of sadness at the passing of this good man, my old and dear friend from years ago.

  2. John and I growed together and were all great frinds. We had many great times fishing and camping on Big Island. We met up one time when we were Korea and had a great time-talking over old time. My deepest sympathy to all of his family and friends
