Thomas P. Scanlon, 66; of Fulton died peacefully with his family at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse after courageously fighting Pulmonary Fibrosis.

He was born in Fulton and has remained a life resident of Fulton. Mr. Scanlon was a United States Veteran having served in the Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967. He continued his military service in the Marine Corp., Reserves from 1967 to 1970. Mr. Scanlon retired from Niagara Mohawk with over 33 years of employment. He was a member of the Fulton VFW #569.

Mr. Scanlon is survived by his companion of 21 years Nancy Close of Fulton, his children: Kathleen (Rob) Godden of Oswego, Maura (Matthew) Kenyon of Hannibal, Thomas (Jackie) Scanlon of Oswego, Carrie (Steven) Bixby of Fulton, Carl (Kara) Close of WA, Calista (Richard) Amering of Rochester, NY, Sam (Amanda) Close of Fulton, his sisters: Armeine Sherman of Fulton, and Patricia Eckerd of Frewsburg, NY, 10 grandchildren: Laura Godden, Thomas, Meghan, Michael Kenyon, Thomas R. Scanlon, Ryan Bixby, Christopher Bixby, Nellie, and Sophie Amering, and Chloe Close, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:30 AM Wednesday in Holy Trinity Church, Fulton. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego. Calling hours will be held 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton.     It was deep regret that I learned of your recent loss. Tom was an old friend of both my late husband, Paul, and me. I often saw Tom and Nancy down by the river enjoying the boat. I know those were good times for both of you. Cherish those memories!

  3. WE WERE NEIGHBORS FOR YEARS. ARMEINE AND I WENT TO SCHOOL TOGETHER.MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY. HE WILL BE MISSED.

  4. I was so saddened to hear today that Tom had passed. He was loved and admired by so many. We are all at a loss. My condolences to Nancy, Tommy, Maura and all of the Scanlon family.
