OSWEGO – Oswego Health is pleased to announce the addition of Firuza R. Marchenko, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, to its Hospitalist team at Oswego Hospital.
Marchenko brings a strong foundation of clinical expertise and advanced practice training to the organization, further strengthening inpatient services and enhancing the delivery of high-quality, coordinated care for hospitalized patients. In her role as a Hospitalist, she will work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to ensure seamless, patient-centered care throughout each patient’s hospital stay.
Hospitalists play a critical role within the hospital setting, specializing in the comprehensive management of inpatient care. They are responsible for overseeing treatment plans, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring safe transitions of care—from admission through discharge. This model enhances communication, improves patient outcomes, and supports a more efficient and responsive healthcare experience.
Marchenko is a Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified with more than six years of acute inpatient experience in medical-surgical and telemetry settings. She has demonstrated expertise in managing complex medical conditions, conducting comprehensive patient assessments, and delivering evidence-based care in fast-paced hospital environments.
She earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from Utica University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from American Sentinel College of Nursing & Health Sciences at Post University and an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Cayuga Community College. Her clinical training includes more than 750 hours of hands-on experience in primary and urgent care settings, including Syracuse Community Health Center and the VA Medical Center.
Prior to joining the Hospitalist team, Marchenko served in multiple registered nursing roles across respected healthcare organizations, including the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, URMC Strong Memorial Hospital, and Oswego Hospital, where she previously provided care as a registered nurse on the medical-surgical unit.
“We are thrilled to welcome Firuza back to Oswego Health as she joins our Hospitalist team,” said Wajeeh Sana, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Oswego Health. “Her strong clinical background, commitment to patient-centered care, and experience in complex inpatient settings make her an excellent addition. Hospitalists are essential to ensuring high-quality, coordinated care for our patients, and Firuza will play an important role in advancing that mission.”
Oswego Health remains committed to investing in highly skilled providers who support the organization’s mission to deliver exceptional care to the community.
