Oswego, NY – The Oswego Buccaneer Boosters are finalizing plans for this year’s annual “BucFest” scheduled for Saturday, September 29th from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Joe Wilber Field.

This year’s 5th annual “BucFest” will celebrate Homecoming 2012 and the varsity football game scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. against visiting New Hartford.

According to organizers, the traditional parade will kick off the event and begin at 10 a.m. in the lot across from the former Coleman’s Restaurant and end at Buccaneer Boulevard. The Homecoming football game will begin at 2:00 immediately following “BucFest”. If there is inclement weather during “BucFest”, the Oswego High School gymnasium will house the event.

The cost for admission is $2, with most of the attractions at the event being free.  Every “BucFest” visitor will receive a snack from Frito Lay, and blue or white “Buc Beads” upon admission.

BucFest 2012 also has new attractions this year, including: Electric Basketball, Hi Stryker, Photo Booth, and Space Ball.

“Each year we try to add new attractions and activities that will entertain and boost school spirit with students, faculty and community,” said BucFest Committee Chair Judy Queale-Dunsmoor.  “We have a lot to be proud of as Buccaneers, and there will be something for everyone at this year’s BucFest.”

During the event a limited number of official “BucFest” 2012 T-shirts will be on sale.  The shirts have been designed by Step One Creative.  Also, for the first time there will be a raffle table where participants can try to win baskets of merchandise donated by local vendors.  All proceeds will benefit the Buc Boosters and future festivals.

While at the event, attendees will have the chance to showcase their Buccaneer pride by getting their hair and nails colored in “Buc Blue”, as well as having their face painted or getting a temporary Buccaneer tattoo.  Other activities include pumpkin painting and making candy leis.

Digital Sound Entertainment will provide music for this year’s “BucFest” once again, highlighted by “Marty the One Man Party.”

The popular Dunk Tank is back this year, where students can take turns trying to get their teachers and coaches into the water tank.  Guests can play a number of games including the new Electric Basketball and Hi Stryker, Radar Gun Speed Throw, Hippity Hop races and the Football Throw.  Prizes donated by Fajita Grill and the Buc Boosters, will be provided at some of the games.

Children can also get their photos taken with New York Bold’s “Chef Bold,” Frito Lay’s “Cracker Jack,” or the new Buccaneer mascot that will be unveiled prior to Homecoming Week.

This year’s food menu includes New York Bold blooming onions, cotton candy, snow cones, candy and caramel apples, hot dogs, pizza and pulled pork available through Barlow’s Concessions, Kings Concession, Gibby O’Connor’s Irish Pub, the football boosters, and New York Bold.

The annual Spirit week starts on Monday, September 24th with the traditional Powder Puff Game, and ends with this year’s “BucFest.”  The Boosters will give a prize to the business owner and the homeowner who does the best job decorating for “Buccaneer Blue Week.”  There are also several home sporting events throughout the week that the Buc Boosters and Athletic Director Mike Conners encourage the community to attend.
