Evans Mills – After having Mother Nature take the checkers last week, Caprara’s Thunder Alley Speed Park was back in action on Saturday, May 15, 2010. In racing action were all regular classes along with the open wheel division and a 50 lap enduro.
Mark Chrzanowki and Murray Walts would lead the field to the green in the 20 Lap Open Wheel division. Murray Walts would use the outside to power around the outside of Chrzanowski and take the lead. Mike Mandigo would find the opportunity to move past Walts into the second position. Mandigo would fiercely try to take the lead away, even attempting to use the pick and roll around a lap car to put his car at the front of the field. In the end Murray Walts would be successful as he would hold off Mandigo and put his number 37 in victory lane followed by Mike Mandigo and Jamie Platt.
Ben Van Tassel and Lou Higby would comprise of the front row in the 20 lap super stock feature. Van Tassel would jump out to the early lead while Mike Ramos, who started in the fourth position quickly powered by Van Tassel to take the lead on a lap two restart. Scott Dinzler wasted no time climbing through the pack as he would move from the eleventh place position into third by moving around Dave Pope and Justin White. Dennis Petrus would find a groove around the middle of the speedway and biding his time would move around Ike Stone for second while Ramos would continue to lead. As the checkered flag dropped, Mike Ramos would collect the win over Dennis Petrus and Randy Bonelle.
In the 15 lap thunder car feature, Don Woodworth and Dan Way would lead the way to the green. Dan Way would use the popular outside lane to put his car at the front of the field. Nick Trapp would follow him while Chuck Monica would quickly find himself in the top three. Monica would move under Nick Trapp to take the third position, while Zak Petrie would slide under Jeff Trapp and Mike Blair for the fourth position. Zak Petrie would then look under Nick Trapp and take control of the third position. Petrie would quickly move to the top lap and move past Bill Brock, Chuck Monica and Dan Way to take the lead of the field. Zak Petrie would go on to collect the win over Chuck Monica and Jeff Trapp.
In the 15 lap men’s truck feature, Randy Mooney and Greg Roes would lead the field to the green. Roes would take the lead as the field would move into turn one and two and down the back stretch. Dustin Van Tassel would move around Zach Strough to take the third position. In the end, Randy Mooney’s attempts to take the win were unsuccessful as Greg Roes would take the checkers over Randy Mooney and Zach Strough.
Nate Plantz and Scott Schafer would lead the Sports Compaq to the green in their 15 lap feature. Scott Schafer would quickly take control while Tim Dunn would follow. Tim Dunn and Nate Plantz would wage a heavy side by side battle for the second position. The field would all be nose to tail as they would move around the speedway, looking for anyone to slip off the bottom and be able to take advantage. Tim Dunn was able to take advantage coming across the start finish line as he would be able to take the second position but it wasn’t enough time to gain ground on Scott Schafer who would collect
the win.
Dalton Rombough and Robert Hoch would lead the field in the 12 lap thunder stock feature. Dalton Rombough would lead the field but Gordy Hall would move high around Rombough to take the lead. The two would battle back and forth for the lead while the rest of the field would battle it out for positions. Gordy Hall would collect the win over Dalton Romboug and Robert Hoch.
Brittany Schroy and Nichole Rombough would lead the women’s truck division in a 12 lap feature event. Schroy and Rombough would battle it out side by side for the lead while Jenn Burnash and Heather Harvey would also dual. While Schroy would attempt numerous times to take the edge over Nichole Rombough, it wouldn’t be enough as Rombough would pick up the win over Schroy and Jenn Burnash.
Thunder Alley will continue racing action on Saturday, May 15, 2010. In racing action will be all regular divisions plus the late models.
