Fulton Rotary Adds 20 Members to ARC Oswego Chapter

The Rotary Club of Fulton recently signed up for 20 annual memberships with ARC of Oswego County. Here, Chairman of the Membership Committee Mike Scaries accepts a $100 check from Rotarian Judy Young. Because ARC of Oswego County is a regional chapter of a state organization, NYSARC, Inc., the number of members in the chapter determines the number of delegates the chapter is allowed when voting on issues of importance to the disabled community. The 20 additional memberships will give Oswego County a greater voice in deciding public policy, related to people with disabilities, on the state and national levels; and the $100 in membership fees will help support ARC of Oswego County's many programs for infants, children, adults, and senior citizens with disabilities. ARC of Oswego County Hosts Family Education Night This Thursday

Dr. Amanda Fenlon, Assistant Professor in the Curriculum and Instruction Department at SUNY Oswego, answers questions at last year’s Family Education Night. Roxanne Euson, the former Director of Parkside Children’s Services and a Special Projects Teacher with ARC of Oswego County, will speak on power struggles and separation anxiety with special children. A parent panel will also offer a chance for families to share experiences and ask questions.

Parents of Children with Special Needs Get Information on Multiple Local Programs and Services

The evening, offered Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at ARC of Oswego’s Fun Rock Café, will feature presenters from at least ten different agencies that offer programs and services. Parents can learn about available recreation and respite programs, athletic opportunities, guardianship assistance, residential habilitation, advocacy groups, and more.
