Oswego County Administrator Phil Church discussed the Oswego County budget process with members of the Oswego Sunrise Rotary. He specifically talked about the formula for determining tax levy limit.
There is no property tax increase. However, the sewer fee will take a big jump as the city looks to make the water and sewer service self-sufficient in 2012 as mandated under the consent decree.
Members of the Common Council on Tuesday night began going over the proposed 2012 budget department by department – line by line. It’s a tight budget, Mayor Randy Bateman said. It holds the line on spending and there shouldn’t be any tax increase, he added.
The Oswego Public Library is seeking approval of a budget of $1,068,973 at the upcoming election on May 17 for the year 2011-2012.
Oswego City School District voters will be going to the polls on May 17 from noon to 9 p.m. at 10 polling places spread throughout the district. This year the voters in the fifth district or fifth ward in Oswego will be casting their ballots at the Cullinan Ice Rink, located directly behind Kingsford Park Elementary School.

Members of the Board of Education reversed themselves Monday night when they revisited a vote that would have kept the bus purchases off the ballot.
The Oswego City School District Board of Education will conduct the annual budget hearing on Tuesday, May 3. It will be held at 6 p.m. at the Education Center. A special meeting of the board of education will follow the public hearing.
