CYO Students Learn the Importance of Roadway Safety

<br />Billie Jo Crandall of the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board, pictured above, visited the CYO Summer Program and spoke with children about the rules of the road for bicyclists and pedestrians and spoke of the importance of wearing a seatbelt in a car and safely crossing the street.  A program of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, the CYO Summer Recreation Program is offered free of charge to children ages 7 to 13 and is held Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through August 14th.

Students in the CYO Summer Program at Catholic Charities were treated to a special presentation by Billie Jo Crandall of the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board on the importance of roadway safety. Ms. Crandall discussed the rules of the road for bicyclists and pedestrians and spoke of the importance of wearing a seatbelt in a car and safely crossing the street. The children asked plenty of questions and learned vital lessons on how to be safe while playing in their neighborhood.

CYO Students Enjoy Game Day

<br />Jacob and Noah Monty enjoy game day as part of the CYO Summer Program.  A program of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, the CYO Summer Recreation Program is offered free of charge to children ages 6 to 14 and is held Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through August 14th. Children in Catholic Charities’ CYO Summer Program recently enjoyed a full day of outdoor fun as they participated in the program’s game day. The children enjoyed a picnic lunch and a variety of games including relay races, balloon toss and other water games as they experienced the principles of working together and playing cooperatively.

CYO Students Learn Safety Techniques from Menter Ambulance Service

<br />EMTs Carl Evans, Jr. and Dan Collins of Menter Ambulance Service demonstrated the proper use of an emergency stretcher by placing CYO participant Tom Tibbles on the device during a recent visit to the CYO Summer Program in Fulton.  The two demonstrated various safety and rescue techniques for children in the CYO Summer Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County.  Open to children ages 6 – 14, the CYO Summer Program offers a variety of activities and events each day Monday thru Friday through August 14th. Students in the CYO Summer Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County were treated to a very special presentation as EMTs Dan Collins and Carl Evans, Jr. of Mentor Ambulance Service visited the CYO for a demonstration on safety and rescue techniques. The two addressed students on the various duties and responsibilities of an ambulance team and demonstrated the different types of equipment that are available to them for use in emergency situations.

Fulton Police Dept. Visits CYO

<br />Officer Shawn Hanks of the Fulton Police Department, pictured above, visited the CYO Summer Program and spoke to the children about the how the Police Department works to protect them and keep their community safe.  A program of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, the CYO Summer Recreation Program is offered free of charge to children ages 7 to 13 and is held Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through August 14th

Officer Shawn Hanks of the Fulton Police Department treated Students in the CYO Summer Program at Catholic Charities to a special presentation.  The children enjoyed listening to Officer Hanks and learning how to the Police Department works to keep their community safe.  Officer Hanks answered a number of questions from the children and helped them gain an appreciation for all that the Fulton Police Department does to keep them safe.
