The evening, offered Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at ARC of Oswego’s Fun Rock Café, will feature presenters from at least ten different agencies that offer programs and services. Parents can learn about available recreation and respite programs, athletic opportunities, guardianship assistance, residential habilitation, advocacy groups, and more.
Summer is golf season, a time when people from Central New York take to the local links to spend a few hours driving balls and sinking putts. Many golfers look for opportunities to improve their game, so it is no surprise that the rain and heat could not keep people with disabilities away from the 5th annual three-day golf clinic hosted by ARISE on August 11, 12, and 14.
At a recent Sunrise Rotary Meeting, Rotarian Dan Farfaglia told the club about Deaf Awareness Week, which is the last week in September and how some movie theaters are playing a part in helping those that are hearing impaired to enjoy the movie.
A group from ARC of Oswego County recently joined The Arc of Oneida-Lewis for their Run/Walk event in New Hartford, walking over a mile to raise awareness about individuals with disabilities.
