The students learned about the tradition and meaning of the Chinese New Year celebration. They also studied a bit of Chinese culture and enjoyed an oriental feast

Frederick Leighton Elementary School fifth grade teacher Tom Wiegand has incorporated Skype into his classroom curriculum to take his students on a journey to England.

Becca Friedlander, an Oswego High School and Fitzhugh Park alum, returned to the gym recently at Fitzhugh as she participated in the Zumba dance unit.

Understanding Wildlife brought its unique program to Oswego with day time shows at Kingsford Park and Frederick Leighton elementary schools for the students. Unfortunately, the evening shows were canceled due to the severe winter weather.

A group of fourth through sixth grade Frederick Leighton Elementary School students created cards for residents of the Sunrise Nursing Home. They personally delivered the holiday greetings.

Students donated a quarter to the “Habitat for Humanity” project and as a result received the opportunity to wear pajamas in school on the final day before the holiday recess.

Students from around the county visited KPS to read holiday letters to kindergarteners. The elementary students shared their Christmas wish lists, sang a few songs, promised to be good and leave some treats out for Santa and his reindeer.
