The New York State Senate today passed legislation (58-0) known as the New York Restaurant Lending a Helping Hand Act, introduced by Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine, which would allow restaurants to make good faith donations of leftover food to charitable organizations without the threat of liability.

Teachers “Plunge for the Pantry”

For the second year, volunteers from the Phoenix Central School Teacher’s Association will “Plunge for the Pantry” on Saturday, January 9, 2010. The courageous PCSTA members will jump in the frigid waters of the Oswego River at North Island in Phoenix at 1:00 p.m. The “jumpers” have acquired monetary sponsors to back them in order to raise money for the Phoenix Food Pantry.

Catholic Charities of Oswego County Announces Fresh Food Distribution

On Wednesday, December 9th the Emergency Services Program of Catholic Charities of Oswego County in cooperation with the Food Bank of Central New York will sponsor a fresh food distribution. Fresh foods and produce will be available, free of charge to those in need, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm or until food is gone. Please bring your own bags or boxes. Distribution will be at the Elks Lodge, 57 Pierce Drive in Fulton.
