Quirk’s Players, the drama club from Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School, will perform selected works of William Shakespeare at 5:30 p.m., at the June 30 Oswego Farmers’ Market, courtesy of the Literacy Coalition of Oswego County.
The Fulton Lions Club installed its new slate of officers for 2016-17, inducted a new member, and presented club awards for the 2015-16-club year at its June 16 meeting.
The demolition of the former Nestles site in Fulton is being seen by the public again as work continues on the front side of the building lining State Route 481. The demolition of the 24-acre site has been ongoing although it has not always been visible for the general public to see as the buildings in the back of the site required work first to get to buildings they connect to in the front, facing the main road with the most visibility. Currently, Infinity Enterprises is demolishing the most visible portion of the site to have the property ready for the incoming supermarket chain, Aldi. Infinity Enterprises was awarded the demolition contract, offering to complete the work for no charge to the city but instead just the sole rights to all salvageable materials on the site.
Eryl Christiansen has been promoted to resource manager at Eastern Shore Associates Insurance, it was announced by Martha Murray, president. “We are excited to have Eryl’s leadership in this new position,” Murray said.
Memorial Day weekend kicked off in Fulton with a successful 35th annual Memorial Day Salute. Hundreds of community members and even some from neighboring communities lined the street to watch the Memorial Day Parade as dozens of entries supporting this year’s theme of “Support Our Veterans” enthusiastically marched across the city. The commemoration continued on Memorial Day (Monday, May 30) morning when a group of community members and veterans followed through a police escort to accompany the Honor Guard as they held ceremonies at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mt. Adnah Cemetery and the Fulton War Memorial Veterans’ Area. The escort ended at Veteran’s Park across from Fulton City Hall where Fulton City Police blocked off the road to allow spectators to line the street to observe the ceremony held in remembrance of the many military members that took the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation.
One of Fulton’s biggest weekend celebrations is upon us yet again. Memorial Day is Monday, May 30 and Fulton plans to continue their traditional holiday festivities this weekend with the 35th annual Memorial Day Salute, an entire weekend full of food, fun and most importantly, remembrance of our nation’s fallen military persons. The Fulton Lady Raiders lacrosse team played spoiler on Monday night as they visited rival Oswego and beat the Lady Buccaneers 21-10 on Senior Night.

On Saturday, April 23, the Fulton – Oswego rivalry turned it up a notch by having a full day of athletics at the Fulton Complex. Games and matches were played all day long spread throughout the playing fields.
