In the face of greater need than ever, organizers worry their dollars won’t stretch as far as they used to because of the closing of a local auction house that helped to meet their needs.

The carnival, which became part of a weekend of community events, intended to help meet those needs.

Bowens Corners Church Planning Holiday Bazaar

Beverly Hinshaw, Ruth Stowell and Barbara Nastasi admire a hand crocheted afghan donated for the bazaar.Preparations are underway for a Holiday Bazaar Craft Show and Bake Sale to be held Friday and Saturday, December 4 and 5th at Bowen’s Corners United Methodist Church. Proceeds from this annual event are used to offset the expenses and programs of the church, which is located at 758 State Route 176, 3.5 miles west of Fulton. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Benefit for Local Pilot

David Engle and Audrey PisiakOn a sunny day in August David Engle and his girlfriend Audrey Pisiak, from the Central Square area, took off for a flight to visit a friend in Manlius in Engle’s two place light sport aircraft. What should have been a perfect day turned into something neither were expecting. On takeoff from the friend’s home, for reasons unknown, Engle’s plane did not clear some trees and was thrown down through them to the ground.
