H1N1 Flu Shot Appointments By Phone Begin Today
If you want one of the first shots available of vaccine for the H1N1 flu virus, today’s the day to make a phone call. The county will open a hotline at 4:00 p.m. Monday afternoon and will make appointments for a shot until 7:00 p.m. or until all appointments are gone. Call 349-8700. While only a small number of local residents have become ill with suspect cases of the H1N1 flu, Oswego Health’s vice president for medical affairs Renato Mandanas, M.D., said that there are simple steps that can be taken to avoid the illness.
The Oswego County Health Department will hold its first seasonal flu clinic on Monday, September 21, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic on Bunner Street in Oswego. The next flu clinics are scheduled for Wednesday, September 30 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the H. Douglas Barclay Courthouse on Bridge Street in Pulaski; and from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic on Bunner Street in Oswego.
The district will outline its plan for communicating during any outbreak, tell parents what they can do to help stop the spread of the flu and discuss the steps the district will take to keep flu from spreading.
