Phoenix 1 Head Start Program Picks Apples at Behling’s Apple Orchard
The Phoenix 1 Head Start children and parents went on a field trip to Beilings Apple Orchard in Mexico. The children were able to enjoy a tractor ride through the orchard, have a picnic lunch, pick their own apples and even try an apple they had picked.
October is Head Start Awareness Month
Head Start was created in 1965 by President Lyndon Johnson as an eight week summer program for young children of low-income families. Over the years it has undergone many changes. It is now a year-long preschool program that provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to children and their families.
Head Start Preschool Prepares for September Start
Head Start is a quality preschool program that enrolls 3- and 4-year-old children at no cost to families. The program’s primary goal is promoting school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children.
Family And Books (FAB) Provides Family Fun and Free Books
Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County, in partnership with Head Start Center Fort Ontario, Pinewood Head Start Center, and Pulaski Early Learning Center, is proud to announce the early success of its new family literacy program. Children and parents attended the FAB program on Wednesday, July 8th, and left with smiles and a free book. Interactive sessions were held to teach parents about the importance of choosing age appropriate books and to enrich the children’s understanding of the book that was read through crafts and activities.
