More than $15,000 was raised by more than 400 participants in the fourth annual Run for Dennis 5k Run/Walk, held on March 14, to honor the memory of Oswego resident Dennis Pacheco, a victim of bladder cancer, it was announced by Jessica Newson, race director and Pacheco’s daughter, and Jane Pacheco, co-director and Pacheco’s wife.
Starting today (May 20), National Grid and their contractors will be undertaking an extensive maintenance project on their transmission lines. National Grid will be using helicopters, contractor line crews and associated heavy equipment during the length of this project.
The Oswego Festival of Sail has partnered with National Grid for the upcoming tall ship event set for June 25, 26 & 27 in the Oswego Harbor, according to Festival of Sail Committee Member and Broadwell Properties owner Shane Broadwell.
National Grid will be Chief Petty Officer Sponsor after recently donating $1,000 to the upcoming festival.
A big fine of sorts for National Grid. The company’s shareholders will pony up nearly 9 million dollars because Grid’s had too many power outages across Upstate New York. The state PSC says Grid hasn’t gotten better at minimizing outages for three of the last five years, so it’s levying the maximum penalty. And it says National Grid could pay an even bigger penalty next year if what it calls “electric reliability” does not improve. […]
