The season for inclement weather has arrived and once again the Oswego City School District is preparing for emergency closing and delay situations. As in the past, a variety of communication venues will be used in the event that school is closed or delayed.
The winter parking ban will go into effect at 1 a.m. Saturday. It will remain in effect until further notice.

Historically, Novembers with little or no snowfall have been followed by winters with below-average snowfall. Without a late-February snowburst, this past winter would have been stymied around 104 inches. It was still far-removed from the season’s average of 150.8 inches.

The amendments should make it easier for those who have trouble keeping their sidewalks clear, especially in areas where plows go by frequently and throw snow and ice back on the sidewalks, proponents said. The ordinance will take effect after approval by the mayor and 10 days after official publication.
The council will schedule a public hearing on the proposed changes at its Sept. 27 meeting. Aldermen will consider the proposed amendments two weeks after that.
Mexico schools are on a one-hour delay.
Fulton schools are closed – Teaching Staff report at 9:30 and teacher aides report at noon.
Hannibal schools are also closed.
Also closed around the county are Central Square, Mexico, BOCES (including evening classes), Phoenix, and Pulaski.
UPDATE: Fulton is canceling tonight’s special Board of Education meeting to review its construction projects.
As of 9:30 a.m., a travel advisory has been issued for Cayuga County urging no unnecessary travel.
