The scrolls come from the personal collection of Dr. Geraldine Forbes, a distinguished teaching professor of history at SUNY Oswego and a renowned scholar on India. Forbes will give a gallery talk at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 29. The event is part of the welcoming reception, free and open to the public, from 5 to 7 p.m.
An internationally recognized scholar on the life and works of the seminal Irish writer W.B. Yeats, Edward O’Shea will teach Yeats at Kolkata’s Presidency College next semester. He will also lecture on the works of T.S. Eliot and Indian literature in English, such as the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore.

SUNY Oswego and the Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School have begun a partnership designed to help pave the way to careers in science fields for inner-city teens.
Dr. Fehmi Damkaci, assistant professor of chemistry at Oswego, piloted the program in July with four students from the academy.
