Summer is golf season, a time when people from Central New York take to the local links to spend a few hours driving balls and sinking putts. Many golfers look for opportunities to improve their game, so it is no surprise that the rain and heat could not keep people with disabilities away from the 5th annual three-day golf clinic hosted by ARISE on August 11, 12, and 14.
CNY Great Pumpkin Festival Set For October 3rd & 4th
Scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd from 11:00 am to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 4th from 11:00 am to 5:00 p.m., the Great Pumpkin Fest will fill Washington Square Park with crafters, farm produce, food vendors, music and games for children of all ages.

This week’s market will have an Irish theme featuring Irish music, Irish food courtesy of the Oswego Hibernians who will be on hand selling their famous corned beef sandwiches, and the highlight of the evening, exciting performances featuring Irish step dancers from The Kinlough Academy of Irish Dance and The Butler-Sheehan Academy of Irish Dance.

Former Deputy Police Chief Announces Run For Fulton Common Council
Peter Franco has announced his candidacy for Alderman of Fulton’s Third Ward. He is a Democrat and has been endorsed by the Fulton Democratic Committee.
Peter is a retired police officer from the Fulton Police Department. He retired in 2005 after serving for 27 years. Over the last eight years of his career, he served as Deputy Chief of Police.
Aubertine Secures Bi-Partisan Support for Green Jobs/Green NY Act
Though earlier in the week Senate Republicans appeared ready to vote down important Green Jobs/Green New York legislation to create jobs and help New Yorkers make their homes more energy efficient, state Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine won the support of 21 Republican colleagues late Thursday night to pass the bill 52-8.
