Fulton Aldermen Enact New Budget Amidst Discussion of Police and Fire Overtime Costs

Fulton City Aldermen Tuesday approved a budget for 2010 that raises spending about $100,000 but contains no tax increase.

“When you consider that over the past six years, our city has suffered the loss of the Nestle Company, the Fulton Cogeneration Company and the A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital most recently, I feel we are fortunate to have been able to keep taxes as stable as they have been,” Mayor Ron Woodward said in a brief address at the start of the public hearing on the budget.

Humane Society Holds “Tail Sale” To Find Homes For The Holidays For Pets

Porky & Buddy, mascots of the Oswego County Humane SocietyOn Saturday, December19th from 11 to 2 pm the Oswego County Humane Society will hold its final “Home 4 the Holidays” Adoption Day at the Tractor Supply Company, Rt. 104 East, Oswego, New York. Cats and kittens and adult dogs will be available for adoption and every pet older than four months will have its adoption fee reduced by half for that day only. Porky and Buddy, the Humane Society’s official mascots will be there to entertain kids (of all ages) and there will be coffee and cookies and treats for children.

SUNY Oswego English professor Edward O'SheaAn internationally recognized scholar on the life and works of the seminal Irish writer W.B. Yeats, Edward O’Shea will teach Yeats at Kolkata’s Presidency College next semester. He will also lecture on the works of T.S. Eliot and Indian literature in English, such as the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore.
