Flood Advisory Posted for Oswego County Sunday Night
Radar estimates and spotter reports indicate two to four inches of rain has fallen across portions of Oswego and Lewis counties. One and a half to two and a half inches of rain has fallen across portions of eastern Jefferson county. An additional inch to two inches of rain is expected to fall tonight.
This additional rainfall will cause some creeks and streams to approach bankfull. Minor flooding in urban areas and areas with poor drainage is also possible.
EEE Virus Still Active: Oswego County Health Department Urges Residents to Take Precautions Against Mosquitoes
Oswego County Public Health Director Dr. Dennis Norfleet said today that mosquitoes carrying Eastern equine encephalitis are still present in the Toad Harbor area and residents should continue to take measures to protect themselves against mosquito bites.
Owens Praises Implementation of CARD Act
Congressman Bill Owens today praised new implementations of H.R. 627, the CARD Act, which contains several strict protections for consumers – banning unfair interest rate increases and forbidding abusive fees and penalties by credit card companies. Additional consumer protections under this legislation will go into effect this Sunday, August 22 under the Credit Cardholders’ Bill of Rights.
