U.S. News Media Group counts SUNY Oswego among the Top Public Regional Universities in the North for 2011 in rankings released Aug. 17, a week after Princeton Review included Oswego in its book “The Best Northeastern Colleges: 2011 Edition.”
The building that was home to Smart Tire and Burdick Tire in Fulton, but has sat empty for several years, will soon be torn down.
In its place will be what its new owner hopes is a paid parking lot.
A panel discussion with local leaders and advocates of historic preservation will discuss the current issues in historic preservation and developing new solutions. The city of Oswego in particular has been faced with a number of challenges in regard to historic preservation. Most recent is the loss of St. Louis Church, which collapsed in July.
The Oswego City firefighters will be holding its third annual golf tournament to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Members of the campus and community are invited to show their SUNY Oswego spirit for the third annual Green and Gold Day on Friday, Sept. 3.

The event, which serves as a major fundraiser for the Oswego YMCA, had hundreds of participants and some very close races. Also this year, they introduced bicycle races for the younger children as well.
Oswego Industries, Inc. recently hosted its annual Picnic for employees and program participants at its main facility in Fulton, NY.
