Evelyn Horan is the Oswego High School Bands’ “Musician of the Month” for November 2010. Evelyn is the principal flautist in the Oswego High School Wind Ensemble. She has been a featured soloist with the Marching Buccaneers on both flute and voice.
Recently, guitar virtuoso and performer Toby Walker, who is among the very best in the acoustic blues scene, was in an intimate classroom setting at Oswego Middle School.
Oswego was well represented at the NYSSMA Zone 4 Area All State Music Festival held in Rome this past weekend.
The Common Council authorized the mayor to execute an Order of Consent/Stipulation with the NYS Department of Conservation. The city had been cited for alleged violations of the Federal Clean Water Act. The city will pay $10,000 and has agreed to other stipulations including submitting a revised operation and maintenance schedule of the West Side Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Hannibal’s Kenney Middle School has been named a school in corrective action by the state Education Department for its students’ scores on English Language Arts exams.
“We have shown improvement,” said Kenney Middle School Principal Daniel Keefe. “We are making incremental progress year to year.” But the progress has not been enough for the state, which sets goals for school districts to hit.
